Duration 3 hours Overnight in Dubrovnik. Day 3 : DUBROVNIK: TALE OF SILK This private tour is an opportunity to explore the beautiful natural setting of the green and fertile Konavle valley. A scenic drive through small and picturesque villages will first take you to the village of Gruda where Antonia Rusković keeps a tradition of a small ancient handicraft of silk production. Silk is one of the oldest textile fibers known to mankind. During the Roman Empire, it was sold for its weight in gold. Here in the Konavle Valley, near Dubrovnik, women keep alive the ancient craft of silk production, not for profit, but for the sake of tradition. After visiting Antonia’s atelier, we will continue our drive to the Ljuta village where you will visit the Old Mill called ‘’Mlinica Dvori’’ which is still in function today. Here you will be able to see a demonstration of flour production using traditional methods where the water powers the stone mill. There is a whole system of watermills and stamp mills built on the river Ljuta, which consisted of eight watermills for flour, two watermills for oil and three stamp mills. Juts a few steps further there is a small rustic tavern called ‘’Vinica Monković’’, where you will have local traditionally prepared lunch. Duration : 7 hours. Overnight in Dubrovnik. Day 4 : DUBROVNIK: TASTE OF DUBROVNIK You will start with a pleasant panoramic ride along the Adriatic coastline; the first stop will be made in the small village of Orasac where we will participate in a demonstration of the olive oil production the old-fashioned way, where the mill is run by a horse. Here you will also have an opportunity to taste some homemade cheese, smoked ham and wine. After visiting the village of Orasac you will continue towards the Pelješac peninsula, famous for its wine, seafood and salt pans. Our first stop is village Ponikve where we will visit a small family-owned winery that produces high quality wine and seafood brought fresh from their beds in the nearby Mali Ston bay. As a cherry on top of a cake comes the town of Ston, the “oyster capital” of Croatia. Especially interesting are the magnificent 5-km long walls surrounding the town – the longest defense walls after the Great Wall of China, and its ancient salt pans where the salt is still produced the same way as back in the time of the Dubrovnik Republic, as well as the time of the Romans, who built them. Duration : 6 hours. Overnight in Dubrovnik. Day 5 : DUBROVNIK: DEPARTURE Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to the airport. End of the tour.
